Description
This dialogue will be an open-agenda discussion amongst young people hungry for a more just, sustainable, healthy, delicious US food system. We hope the insights from this discussion-our voices-will be elevated to the agenda of the September 2022 White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. We are eaters, cooks, and growers; researchers, policy advocates, and activists; food pantry volunteers, agroecologists, and SNAP participants – and we each have over two decades of lived experience in the US food system we inherited. That food system is fraught with trauma, debt, and unsustainability – and also, hope and resilience. The dialogue will center questions discussed as a whole room, and in small groups. Participants will be invited to envision the US food system they dream of working towards, and the steps needed to realize it. We commit to helping play our part in achieving a more just food future for all.
